[thumb:273:l:s=1:l=x]A year of bad decisions and bad calls by NASCAR has finally come together to make a good call. The return of the Busch Series to Martinsville Speedway. NASCAR ran their first race at the .526 mile track on July 4th, 1948. NASCAR has run at the track, that has been referred to as two drag strips and two turnarounds, 57 of the last 59 years. Hopefully NASCAR will allow the short track action that Martinsville has become known for to continue on as it returns in 2006 at full force.

[thumb:347:r:s=1]In what was a great show at Dover on Saturday, Jeff Burton held off Carl Edwards to become the second Cup driver this weekend to get the really cool trophy at Dover. Carl took on 4 tires with just under 50 laps to go, while burton and a few others stayed out. Carl made a charge, but still couldn’t get by Burton. Jeff’s car was just incredible on the long run. However, with Cup drivers being 14 for 14 this year in the Busch series, there’s a question that is burning in the back of everyone’s mind.

[thumb:358:l:s=1:l=x]As if there isn’t enough wrecks lately, it appears that Todd Bodine wants to go Cup racing with his Germaine Racing Team, using Toyota support. While we should be reminding our readers of the great racing witnessed at Dover this afternoon, this just now being discussed on Wind Tunnel is by far more disturbing.

[thumb:191:l:s=1:l=x]Who saw this one coming? Brian Vickers has announced that he will be seeking other options for the 2007 season, and leaving the stability of Hendrick Motorsports. Just when you thought this season couldn’t get and weirder, and this week any more dull in the news column, the fan has been hit with a massive load.

[thumb:101:r:s=1:l=x]If you happen to be headed to the Truck race at Texas Motor Speedway, and just happen to have access to the infield, be sure to drop by and say hi and stick around for the party tonight. We’re about the center of the infield at TMS, and we’re not hard to find. We’ll also be around for the IRL race as well.

Remember to mention you saw us at ThunderLounge.com!

[thumb:164:r:s=1:l=x]Denny Hamlin won his second feature of the year, and his first ever Nextel Cup points event at Pocono this afternoon. Hamlin’s car was on rails all day, and after leading almost 50 laps they blew a left rear tire. The team dug in, and was once again pacing the field when Jeff Gordon broke a right front brake rotor heading into turn 1 with less than a dozen laps to go.

[thumb:192:r:s=1:l=x]In the closing seconds of Inside Nextel Cup on Speed this evening, Michael Waltrip made the comment that he would have a big announcement this weekend at Michigan in regards to the status of sponsorship for the Michael Waltrip Racing teams being fielded next season. While he wouldn’t comment on what, no matter how much Ken Schrader poked at him, you know Michael. If you listen, he’ll tell you in no uncertain words.
