They are going to be here for sometime and that was confirmed at Daytona last weekend by Dr. Dieter Zetsche, chairman of DaimlerChrysler.

[thumb:366:r:s=1:l=x]So we all know the deal, kind of. The Chase was created to intensify the “drama” over the last few races of the season. In order to promote the action on the track, instead of the talk being more focused on who was going where next season. With the sponsorship of the series changing in 2004, it seemed a perfect opportunity to make some adjustments.

[thumb:167:r:s=1:l=x]For the skeptics, Jeff’s back. It wasn’t enough just seeing the run at Michigan, it was proven today that finally the #24 team has their downforce track program coming back to life. However, the drama doesn’t stop there.

[thumb:367:l:s=1:l=x]As soon as the announcement was made Sunday at Chicagoland as to whom would be taking the wheel of the #42 Dodge in 2007, one would assume the press would be all over the story. Yes and no. Some of us had to let this one sink in, as pretty much the entire racing world was caught off guard by the announcement. The jaws dropped, and it took a little time to get them off the floor and back into position.

[image:364:l:s=1:l=http://thunderlounge.com/articles/nascar/features/the-way-i-see-it/]There can only be one thing said to sum up the ending at Chicago this weekend. Disgusting. Sometimes you just gotta wonder what’s going through the minds of some people when something like this happens.

[thumb:167:l:s=1:l=x][thumb:170:r:s=1:l=x]After reading through dozens of articles over the last two and a half days, there hasn’t been a single writer mention the following possibility. It may be out there buried somewhere, but I haven’t seen it. It’s something that has to be considered at least in the theory of possibility.

It’s happened before. It will happen again.

[image:365:r:s=1:l=http://thunderlounge.com/articles/nascar/features/the-water-cooler/]This week around the water cooler has been pretty busy. In part from a slew of topics, in part from a lack of something better to do. Some topics such as Ganassi, Toyota, Yates, and the Chase have still been in discussion while a few new topics have been mixed in the conversation. In the end, a few topics rose to the top.
