[thumb:107:l:s=1:l=x]Pinks, yes I know, it’s not NASCAR as I’ve just been reminded but it is racing and sometimes a girl just wants to voice her opinion on what she sees.

Okay, yes I admit I’m a girly girl sometimes, maybe most of the time, but there’s a side to me that most people don’t know and it will shock most men that I know. But, the girly girl side of me had no idea what PINKS meant outside of a color until my husband introduced me to it.

[thumb:248:l:s=1:l=x]OK, I’ll be the first to admit I’m a little spun up. But it’s something that’s been on my mind for who knows how long, and regular readers can probably pick out some of it flowing through in other articles. However it took a reference/article over on SceneDaily’s blog by Steve Waid to be the straw that broke the camel’s back, so to speak. We’re talking ISC, NASCAR, the future direction of the sport, and mixed in with a little “what the hell are they thinking” kind of stuff.

[thumb:364:l:s=1:l=x] Another year has closed out and the questions and concerns have been flying about if the chase is fair and should there be a different format. Complaints start with the usual that we are afraid to race the Chase contenders in the final ten races and should the points of the Chase contenders be kept separate. A new and improved Chase that would make it a shoot out until the end and a season to remember is what we all are looking for.

[thumb:387:l] In Early 1953 Hudson owner Ted Chester was shopping for a family member in an Atlanta pet shop. While browsing Chester noticed a Rhesus Monkey. Chester bought the monkey with a strange idea in his head. He thought the monkey would make a good teammate for Tim Flock by driving in the car with him as a fun gimmick for the younger fans that came to the Tracks to watch the race. When Chester approached Tim with the idea Tim thought Chester had drank one to many adult beverages. The more Tim thought about the idea the more he liked the idea of the little monkey riding around the track with him.

The news has me steamed and I mean steamed. From our local news here in Virginia Beach to the National News. Jimmy “Pretty Boy” Johnson is in no way similar to Tony Stewart. All of these comparisons are annoying. Yes, I’m a Stewart fan so deal with it and admit this is ridiculous.

[thumb:387:l] In the begining Bill France only allowed NASCAR to run on oval tracks. Hence Go Fast Turn Left. A nice variety of ovals between 1/2 a mile to 2 miles (Grand National Cars never raced on Daytona Road course though all the Grand National Drivers tried to qualify for it). Grand National circuit tackled it’s first road course on June 13, 1954 when race promoters staged the International 100.

[thumb:372:r:s=1]See that chap over there on the right? He won’t be the only new thing happening come 2007. Granted, he’ll make bigger headlines than what we’re thinking of, but he won’t be the only newcomer to the NASCAR scene.

So what does Montoya have to do with what’s cookin’ around the Lounge in the off season? Nothing really. He just happens to be making his debut in 2007, and what we’re thinking of will be too. Although, we must admit, this other deal will hit the scene before Montoya hits Daytona for Speedweeks.

What is it, you may ask?

Do you really want to know?

OK. We’ll tell you next month. ;)
Alright, that was a tease. But we do have a new addition to the Lounge coming next month. One that we’re sure you’ll find interesting, useful, and quite appealing.
