[image:365:r:s=1:l=http://thunderlounge.com/articles/nascar/features/the-water-cooler/]After only two days passing this week, the water cooler was full of commotion. Will Sprint screw up and ditch Nascar? Vickers must be off his rocker to move to a start-up team. Has Jimmie Johnson eliminated kryptonite? Is Ward ever going to catch a break? And my personal fave so far this week, Gene Haas’ arrest is the repercussions for dumping all over Ward Burton at the end of 2004.

[thumb:358:l:s=1:l=x]The reigning question around the water cooler is what will sprint screw up next? So far they’ve bought Nextel, and screwed it up. The service, support, billing, you name it and it’s screwed up. It isn’t anything like it used to be prior to the merger, and I don’t care what they publicly say. The facts, prior to the merger were that 495 of the fortune 500 companies used Nextel. I wonder how many still do. Now it looks like it is possible that they are going to screw up Nascar too, just as we were starting to get used to the change to the yellow and black Cup series sponsorship.

[thumb:363:l:s=1:l=http://thunderlounge.com/nascar/driver-nutrition-more-important-than-ever.html]While Scott Riggs was caught in a moment of funnel cake bliss, the funny thing about it is that today’s Nascar driver is a fine tuned machine. Sure they each have their special treat, Jeff Gordon has corndogs and Smoke has his Blizzard’s, but as a whole you’ll find most driver’s today are under the guidance of team nutritionists.

[thumb:167:r:s=1:l=x]We’ve heard the reports on the data about the hit that Jeff Gordon took last week as he plowed the wall at Pocono. In response to that, a couple questions have came across the desks of the Thunder Lounge in regards to what that data really means.

[thumb:285:r:s=1:l=x]Some strange things have taken place so far during this race weekend. And even though the Cup Series and the Busch Series are at separate tracks this weekend, it seems that it hasn’t kept the occurrence of these strange things isolated. Yes, the “freak bug” has not discriminated on location this week. Not one bit. I’d almost swear I saw Kenny Wallace sticking a thermometer in the ground to see if it was frozen further down.
