[thumb:176:r:s=1:l=x]Wham, bam, thank you ma’am. No truck, no Roush, no running around in a No-Fear #60. It’s going to be a 22 race deal in the #01 for MB2 Motorsports. No Yates, no nothing else. Who saw thins one coming? Correct answer: Nobody.
In an announcement today at Talladega, Mark Martin announced his 2008 intentions. Finally.
The announcement comes as a shock, literally. Not only because Martin will not be racing a truck for Roush, as he’d been planning for the last 2 years, but he will also not be in a Ford. Gadzooks Batman!
While there weren’t any details as to who will carry out the rest of the season for MB2 in the #01, it is expected to run the entire schedule.
Joe Nemechek isn’t fired, but apparently will be changing to another number under the MB2 banner. However, that hasn’t been announced yet either.
No word on sponsor’s, but like that would be an issue with the opportunity to sponsor Martin. Heck, if I had the cash laying around I’d sponsor him, just to do it. Instead of sponsor appearances, he could come over for dinner a couple times a month. OK, this is the part where you’re supposed to laugh folks.
So, it seems that the eruption of the recently building Silly Season pressure has begun. Will it continue?
It just very well may.
Remember, Red Bull needs to announce a teammate for Vickers, and there still hasn’t been anything announced for the #88 either.
Gosh, the only thing coming to mind now is the phrase “Here we go again.”

So whose laughing? Not I. In fact I think the idea has merit.
So much so I think I’ll top your dinner “sponsorship” deal with both dinner and a movie.

As a note in addition to this, MB2 announced a few minutes ago that Regan Smith will move up from Busch to fill out the remainder of the season that Mark doesn’t drive.
Also, they’ve stuck Nemechek in ths shorts with the …
