In other sports, Brooklyn Dodgers beat NY Yankees in the World Series and Oklahoma wins the National Championship. In entertainment, Gunsmoke debuts on TV and James Dean Dies. In Science, Narinder Kapany develops Fiber optics and Owen Chamberlain discovers antimatter. Famous deaths of the year: Albert Einstein, Alexander Fleming, and Thomas Mann. Now… time for the year that Chevy finally gets a win in NASCAR.

Tim Flock wins Daytona Road Course after Fireball Roberts is disqualified.
March 26:
Fonty Flock wins in his Chevy at Columbia, this is Chevy nameplate’s first win.
May 1:
Buck Baker wins at Charlotte as Herb Thomas is injured on lap 42.
May 7:
Youngster Junior Johnson wins his first race at Hickory NC.
July 31:
Tim Flock wins his record breaking 13th win of the season at San Mateo CA.
September 5:
Herb Thomas wins the Southern 500 four races after returning from injuries.
October 9:
Speedy Thompson wins at LeHi Speedway it is the first time a factory backed team wins.
October 16:
Norm Nelson wins at shortened Las Vegas it is shortened due to darkness.
October 30:
Tim Flock wins in the Finale at Hillsboro NC it is his 18th win of the season.

Talking about the 1955 Daytona beach race. “Fireball” Roberts won this race acording to Ray Fox who built the motor and “Fireball” Roberts was paid for winning that race out pocket by Mr. Bobby Fish of Fish Carburetor. To this very day this was the last car to be disqualified from a NASCAR event.

Wow somebody is reading my articles. Great point some fans (mostly my Dad and Stepmum) feel that NASCAR was trying to make ammends with the famous Flock brothers after the temper tantrum they through in ‘54. They were Fireball Fans though Dad still says he is the best driver ever.
