As you may or may not have already heard, Bobby Hamilton has passed on after almost a year long fight with cancer. Passing at the age of 49 over the weekend while he was surrounded by loved ones.

Thunder Lounge would like to pass on our condolences, and heart felt wishes to Bobby Hamilton’s family, friends, and fans. As having lost close family to the battle myself, my thoughts and prayers are with you all, as are those of the Lounge.

While surrounded by sad times, we offer a happier time to reflect upon. Remember a race not too far in the past at what is really the fastest track on the NASCAR circuit? It was one of those days where everything just lines up perfectly, and is the last caution-free restrictor plate on record. Coming down the stretch, leading the monster pack of cars across the line was the 55 SqaureD of one Mr. Bobby Hamilton. In victory lane, you’d have swore it was Daytona, but where didn’t matter. What mattered was a man in a machine that brought home a dream and cherished every moment of it, as dog tired and exhausted as he was. A caution-free feat which may never be seen again, that will be in the history books with Bobby all over it.

Godspeed Bobby Hamilton, his family, friends, and fans.
