[thumb:352:r:s=1:l=x]In a Thunder Lounge exclusive, we have the full scoop on what’s going on at BAM Racing with the 49 team and Brent Sherman. We have spoken with BAM Racing, and have confirmation as to the status of Brent Sherman, and Kevin Lepage as well. Remember, you read it here first. Kudo’s to BAM Racing for the confirmation, and they are some of the nicest people you will ever have the pleasure of interacting with.[thumb:354:r:s=1:l=x]
Thunder Lounge did the digging on this one, and we have the answers. Indeed the Silly Season is in full swing, and it’s only the first part of May.
The question at hand is, what is the status of Brent Sherman and his role with BAM Racing’s #49 Dodge?
Reports have Kevin Lepage in the car for Darlington, and Front Row made mention that Greg Conner had left their #61 as well.
According to Melanie Hamilton, BAM Racing’s PR contact:
Brent Sherman has been replaced in the #49 Dodge, and will not be returning to the team. While the status of the driver in the long term is not official, Kevin Lepage will drive the #49 this week at Darlington, in the Open the following weekend at Charlotte, and in the Coca-Cola 600 as well. We hope to have an announcement on the long-term status of the driver for the #49 Dodge by the time the 600 rolls around.
While it is, in our opinion, regrettable that Brent has left the team, we also understand the pressures of today’s racing world. Especially at the Nextel Cup level. Brent is a talented young driver, and we expect to see more from him the future, whatever that may bring. However, sometimes things just don’t work out. That’s racing.
So, there you have it. It is official. Brent’s out and, for now, Kevin’s in. We’ll see what the long term status is, when BAM Racing makes an official announcement later this month.
