[thumb:177:l:s=1:l=x]Like this is a surprising announcement, as Ray Evernham announced today that Mayfield has officially been terminated. Really? Who would have guessed that one? Replacing him at Watkins Glen, and him finding out from a reporter that he had been replaced? Removing his name from the EMS list of drivers and company letterhead?
Nope, never would have thought this would happen.
Now, onto the bridge that we have for sale…
He has been terminated, and I honestly don’t want to discuss the terms with that.
I’ll bet it lightened Ray’s wallet a bit. It doesn’t appear to be a mutually agreed deal, although Mayfield was looking to depart if he could, and Mayfield declined to personally talk about it and instead had Shana (his wife) pass along that there was no comment due to legal reasons.
Legal reasons, you say? Is it because Ray said here’s a check, and keep it quiet? Or could it be that Ray’s attorney’s are talking with Jeremy’s attorney’s to come to an agreed settlement on the dissolution of the relationship?
Hmmm. We may find out eventually, or we may never know.
Regardless, Jeremy isn’t going to be in the #19 again and Evernham is going to be looking for someone to fill some spots when Bill can’t run it.
Ray did say that sweetie Erin wasn’t an option, as she isn’t ready to jump up to Cup yet.
Wow. A car owner that’s admitting that a young driver isn’t ready, in public?
