Great Race, Eh? Busch Series Headed North In 2007

[thumb:361:r:s=1:l=x]Just read a report on Fox Sports that has Nascar’s managing director of events and operations telling the Toronto Sun that while there are a few kinks to work out, the the Busch Series will make an appearance at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
According to the report, expect an official announcement within 60 days.

Ah-ha… someone else is reporting that story. (beside me of course)
It’s been 18 hours since I first noted it and I believe NASCAR still haven’t posted anything. (I might be wrong, I haven’t looked in about 6 hours)
It seems to be fact although the Sun claims it got it’s info from an “exclusive interview” with a NASCAR official. That was reported Sunday. Monday the same paper has quotes from Jack in the Hat praiseing NASCAR for the decision.
I’m guessing the Sun got the interview, then ran to Jack to get the quotes.

I don’t think Nascar will make an official announcement until everything is squared up and finalized.
The report on Fox mentioned that pit road had to be increased to handle 43 cars, vice the 20 or so it can handle now.
So once that and some other things have been taken care of, or will be taken care of, then I’d expect something official.
Of course, nothing is stopping them from mentioning that they are looking at it.
And yes, feel free to play the Canadian National Anthem there.

I am all for NASCAR looking at taking a race to Canda. However, I wish they could do it without one of the tracks here losing out.

That should definitely be a concern, Clance.
However, as we’ve seen recently, I don’t know if it will be one they take into consideration.
Heck the Busch Schedule is only 35 races, right? Looks like there’s room for 1 more to me.
Although, I’d rather see it go to Iowa.
