[thumb:164:r:s=1:l=x]Last night in what was yet another awesome show at Darlington, Denny Hamlin took the checkers for his second win in the Busch Series. His first win came earlier this year down in Mexico. This is technically Hamlin’s third win in Nascar’s top tier’s, as he also won the Bud Shootout in February. However, that is a non-points event.

In a race that saw 4 restarts over the final 26 laps, Hamlin was amazingly not nervous at all.

“I didn’t get nervous or anything because I knew they were going to come flying by me like they did all day,” Hamlin said. “I just didn’t know our car was going to be so strong at the end.”

Matt Kenseth had an incredible car, as did his Roush teammates Jamie McMurray, Mark Martin, and Greg Biffle, who rounded out the top five behind Kenseth who finished second. What killed their chances were all the restarts. It took a few laps for their cars to come around, and the short run was not their friend last night. That being said, the winning pass was made late on pit road when Hamlin came in second to Kenseth, and came out with Kenseth in his rear view mirror. Jamie McMurray was driving Rusty Wallace’s #64 last night, as a note. It’s nice to see that Jack Roush has encouraged the relationship there, even though there is a manufacturer difference.

In other notes Carl Edwards, who was the second fastest qualifier, and Kevin Harvick who qualified third, were both sent to the back of the field for the start of the race. Both for unapproved modifications after qualifying. It was an impound race, and during qualifying Edwards smacked the wall on his second lap after reportedly not hearing how well his first lap was. Kevin Harvick had to change engine’s. Kasey Kahne was also sent to the back for being late to the driver’s meeting.
