[thumb:253:r:s=1:l=x]Last night about half way through Happy Hour, Jeff Burton unfortunately cut a left rear tire and hit the fence between turn 4 and the tri-oval. Caught up in the incident was JJ Yeley, Casey Mears, and Dave Blaney. Burton and Mears both made it back out in their backup cars for a few laps. Burton’s backup car took the pole in February, and Mears’ backup is the car that Jamie took to 2nd here a year ago.
Needless to say these gentlemen will be qualifying for pit selection this afternoon. The bright side of it is they are guaranteed to start, which is good news for Yeley. In practice JJ was 21st before the accident, with that time ending up 40th. Then again, practice times are just that. Practice. So many factors play into it that you can’t necessarily bet the bank on it.
Where there is misery, there is also joy. Joe Nemechek paced Happy Hour, with Dale Jarrett and Robby Gordon in tow. So, look for the term “Front Row Joe” to be spit out in the pits by Dick a shameless amount of times.
Looks like this weekend is shaping up to be rich with news. So stick around, and we’ll keep you advised.
