The article reports that a source close to the situation stated that Waltrip plans to announce a deal with a current Cup driver. We all know who’s first and foremost in our minds, and all indicators seem to be pointing in that direction.
In the article, Eddie D’Hondt, the general manager at RYR, said Thursday there have been talks with Jarrett about him leaving the organization. However, nothing is final. It does however appear that options have been explored, which is to be expected regardless of the situation, because in today’s ever evolving Nascar world you have to be a first-rate Boy Scout. Always be prepared.
The article goes on to mention that RYR has discussed the situation with UPS, and are in hopes that the World Wide Delivery sponsor that has became such an integrated part of the #88 UPS team will remain onboard if there is a driver change.
In the short of it, combined with Brent Sherman leaving the #49 team recently, If it wasn’t official it is now. Silly Season has begun, and this will likely be the first of many shake-ups before we hit Homestead in November.
Up next, Casey Mears?
