Michael Waltrip: “We’ve Got A Big Announcement This Weekend”

[thumb:192:r:s=1:l=x]In the closing seconds of Inside Nextel Cup on Speed this evening, Michael Waltrip made the comment that he would have a big announcement this weekend at Michigan in regards to the status of sponsorship for the Michael Waltrip Racing teams being fielded next season. While he wouldn’t comment on what, no matter how much Ken Schrader poked at him, you know Michael. If you listen, he’ll tell you in no uncertain words.
He didn’t come right out and say it, but expect the announcement, at least in part, to have something to do with Domino’s and Burger King. Burger King is already on the hood for 5 races this year for Bill Elliot (Reported rumor’s have the Hamburgler and Mayor McCheese slightly ticked), and Domino’s has been a partner in some form or fashion with Michael for several years.
However while he was trying to be sly with comment’s like “Call Domino’s, they deliver”, and “Have it your way”, I’m not sure if these sponsor’s would qualify as a really big announcement. This is simply because they are already associated with Michael Waltrip Racing. Could it be that something else is coming out, in addition to perhaps an increase in sponsorship on the parts of both Domino’s and Burger King? What could it be that would make it such a huge announcement?
Current rumors have that Big Brown Truck headed to Evernham or Roush, but could they be wrong? Could there be a completely different sponsor? You know, I’ve always wondered why Wal-Mart wasn’t on the hood of a car. Always.
Until recently, I had wondered about Microsoft as well. Granted I’m anti-microsoft, but I was still wondering until they showed up in conjunction with the #66. You know that teams got some funding now. Ol’ Bill’s wallet isn’t light, you know.
Look for at least this weekend to have some news, and I’m sure there will be something develop this week. Every time it looks to be slowing down, some kind of bomb is dropped.
