[thumb:351:l:s=1:l=x]Well well well. Look at what we have here. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s worth a check. You can find it « here » for reference.

What’s the recent addition of Nascar.com’s blog mean?

Several things, one of which has to be that because of the blogs out there that have paved the way for such recognition.

Another is that they seem to recognize that it’s a style of reading that certain people tend to gravitate towards, and that demographic is rising every day.

So, what does it seem to be at the moment?

Currently, posts date back to yesterday. Yes, it’s brand new.

After reading through them, it seems to be quick notes and information from the track. A sort of quick news if you will. The contributors as of now are the current journalists appearing on the site.

They do allow comments, but have a heavy moderation policy in place. Someone is reviewing all the comments prior to being published. While that somewhat takes away a little bit of the traditional feel of a blog, on a site like that it is definitely understandable. Not only because of spam, which we all face and loathe with a passion, but also because of the potential for other types of bad intent.

As for what the content will be on a regular basis is anybody’s guess at the moment.

Will they possibly allow for the writers to show a little more opinion, a little more of the human touch that blogs are famous for? To be honest, I doubt it. Not that it isn’t possible, but because it’s part of the official home of Nascar, I’m sure they will have to keep in line with the current article policy. Granted the articles are well written and passionate, but they stay opinion-neutral for the most part. There are exceptions of course, even in the current articles. So, at this point it’s anybody’s guess as to what the tone and style will end up being.

  1. “Currently, posts date back to yesterday. Yes, it’s brand new.”

My apology. I missed the tag for friday. However, Friday was the earliest day I could find for posts. So yes, it’s still brand new.

  2. I noticed the blog yesterday as well. One thing I did notice, when you comment you enter your name and home town. There is no place to enter your own blog’s url.

I might guess they have done it to keep people from placing commercial links in that spot.

But don’t really feel that charitable towards NASCAR to believe that. Not with the moderation policy in effect. They could easily weed out any commercial links.

I think they are just clueless what a blog is supposed to be.
