[thumb:167:r:s=1:l=x]For the skeptics, Jeff’s back. It wasn’t enough just seeing the run at Michigan, it was proven today that finally the #24 team has their downforce track program coming back to life. However, the drama doesn’t stop there.
The haters will taut it as a payback from Bristol. The fans will taut it as one of them racin’ deals. The reality, is in the middle. After so many replays, it’s obvious. The 24 had a run, and the 17 wasn’t as fast back to the gas as he had been. It resulted in a bump from the 24, running second at the time. Add in a lap car at the same time, and it happens. A minute later, Matt was on the apron coasting back to the pits to get some gas. Preventable, perhaps. Tough at 170 miles an hour, without slamming on the brakes. Earlier in the race, a lot more preventable most likely. Fighting with a couple laps to go, not a likely scenario. Not because someone is being intentional, but from giving it all that one has at every second. However, nobody will ever be able to convince Matt of anything other than an intentional dump. Sometimes the victim should look in the mirror and remember what it’s like to be on the other end. It was an accident, and there isn’t a driver out there that hasn’t caused one.
If you hate the 24, you call it intentional. If you don’t, it was a racing deal. Realistically, from neutral ground, it was an accident that just sometimes happens.
The resulting slaughter from the grandstands was purely pathetic. That however, is another article all in itself. If you were one of those fans, you should be ashamed.
