Some come from sources close to the real deal, and actually have merit. This is the old “where there’s smoke, there’s fire” bit. Take for example the information posted on Nascar.com in Marty Smith’s Last Lap article this week. While it’s not “officially” announced, it might as well be now. Elliot Sadler will be headed to the #19 of Evernham Motorsports. Most likely leaving Jeremy taking a walk over to MWR’s #00 Toyota Camry.
Next in line are the completely idiotic remarks made by jackasses. Enter Jimmy Spencer, Krispy Kreme in hand. We’d post his picture along with the article, but it just wouldn’t fit unless your computer screen was the same size as the screen at a drive-in movie.
Sunday night on Speed during Victory Lane he said Jamie McMurray wouldn’t be at Roush next year. Now, he can blow it off as merely “commentating” for TV. Right. It’s not commentating, it’s diarrhea of the mouth disease. There have been no indications anywhere for this. Ok, the #26 isn’t setting the world on fire. Jack knows, and knew when he hired Jamie that it wouldn’t be instant success. Jack isn’t dumb by any means. He sees something in McMurray, and he knows just how to polish that into a world class diamond.
That being said, with being on a TV show comes a responsibility. Jimmy Spencer fails to live up to that on almost every show he’s on. He is consistently making comments that have no ground, and half of the time don’t make any sense or are further out than a Juiced Up Barry Bonds Home Run. And then some.
Rumors are exactly that. Rumors. Some have merit, some don’t. Those that do should be discussed, and speculated. Those that are pulled from ones titanic derriere, should be left alone with the peanuts.
Speed, it’s time for Jimmy to be replaced with a responsible commentator.
And… That’s The Way I See It!!
