[thumb:191:r:s=1:l=x]Treat me like a redheaded step child, and I’m going to act like one.

After being removed from Hendrick meetings, tauted that he isn’t really a teammate to the other three Hendrick cars, and being dropped out in left field Brian Vickers accepted the consequences from his decision to move on to Team Red Bull next season and put his nose to grind to break through and win the UAW-500 at Talladega.

On the final lap of the event while coming out of turn 2, Vickers was running 3rd behind Jimmie Johnson and leader Dale Jr. The two Hendrick cars got a run and moved to Jr’s inside. Jr started to block, but halted the move as Johnson had the inside with Vickers up his tail pipe. Vickers then got into the right rear of Johnson, turning him up into Jr, and sending him nose first up into Jr. Both cars go spinning into the grass on the back stretch, Vickers drives by and is leading as the caution comes out. What a way to get your first win. I wonder if Jr and Johnson will take ol’ Brian out behind the woodshed tonight after they get back to Charlotte?

In other Chase news, Denny Hamlin, Jeff Gordon and Kevin Harvick got caught up in someone else’s mess with just under 50 to go, and then to top it off with about 20 to go Hamlin got it again.

Jeff Burton had a minor “Oops”, as he had a tire going down just after the restart just inside 20 to go. He was forced to pit under green and ended up losing a lap.

While we would like to let you know how the points shook out, but with the last lap fiasco, NASCAR hasn’t sorted them out yet for more then the top couple of spots. At this time it doesn’t look like Burton has dropped out of the top spot, but his lead will be slim if he holds onto it.

I wonder when the Welcome Wagon will show up to Vickers’ place and welcome him as the newest member to the list of drivers that the Jr Nation will boo? Especially since that Nation is at its strongest down at the Alabama track.
