We’re Better Than This.

While you probably have guessed that I’m talking about the contact between Gordon and Kenseth, you guessed wrong. I’m not talking about what happened on the track. I’m talking about what ended up on it. Disgusting. I can’t help but wondering what the hell those fans were thinking. They obviously do not care that there is not only the unwritten rule of the fan, but laws against it as well. Nascar doesn’t take this sort of thing lightly, and it appears that these “so called fans” forgot two important details. The first is that they were recorded by tv cameras in the act. The second is that while to some it may seem petty, Nascar has the resources to press charges. It’s happened before when a similar scene took place.

We’re better than this. Those that are guilty of the act most likely don’t care. They made that point obvious. These people are not what Nascar is about, and are not representative of real Nascar fans. These are the idiots that show up hoping for a wreck, not to see good racing. Which there was some decent racing this weekend during the other times of “choo choo” and follow the leader. The track is maturing, and the grooves opening up. This is a good sign, because the racing here will be much better once the COT is in place and the aero problems are a thing of the past. At least that’s what NASCAR and the rest of us are hoping for. While there hasn’t been a full test of the COT in a full field the results so far have at least given hope that this aero loose/tight situation will be taken care of.
To the true fans of Nascar, thanks from a fan that appreciates everyone else’s support. To the Jackasses, how about you just don’t buy a ticket again and go back to watching your “wraslin” on cable, and let the real fans that want to attend do so without fear that some jackass is going to miss the track with their damn bottle and smack their kid in the back of the head. But no, it could never happen to you. Right? Guess again. My thought is you probably don’t even remember doing it. That’s ok though. It’s all on video tape.
